Work Schedule: Full-time, Three-hour shifts

Shift Timing: Days, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm (with weekend rotation)

Unit Highlights:

  • The Intensive Care Unit at AdventHealth is a 19-bed facility managing a diverse range of high-acuity cases.
  • Varied patient demographics with conditions such as renal failure, respiratory failure requiring ventilator support, septic shock with multi-organ dysfunction, hypovolemic shock, diabetic ketoacidosis with severe acidosis, and more.
  • A robust, interdisciplinary team of highly motivated nurses with dedicated mentors who are passionate about teaching new nurses.

The Community You Will Serve:

  • AdventHealth is a modern, 120-bed hospital offering a wide array of services, including advanced surgical facilities and a catheterization lab.
  • The hospital features a spacious emergency department equipped with pediatric-friendly beds, imaging services, a full-service cafeteria, a chapel, a gift shop, and an on-site fire station.
  • This facility opened recently, replacing a smaller hospital that served the community for over four decades.

Your Role:

The Registered Professional Nurse (RN) is accountable for delivering and overseeing both direct and indirect comprehensive nursing care to designated age-specific groups. Employs the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to meet the objectives of the nursing department. Complies with the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and adheres to all applicable local, state, and federal regulations and accrediting standards. Actively engages in exceptional customer service and maintains respectful relationships with all.

Your Contributions to the Team:

  • Nursing Expertise: Demonstrates the ability to assess and interpret diagnostic data relevant to patient age and condition, including lab results, non-invasive monitoring data, and interdisciplinary team notes. Nursing practice reflects the application of knowledge and skills pertaining to all diagnoses, procedures, medications, complications, and equipment associated with the patient population.
  • Patient Safety: Nursing practice reflects the application of knowledge, skill, and adherence to all relevant regulatory standards. Follows strict infection control protocols and adheres to policies regarding medication safety. Recognizes the importance of patient education and seizes opportunities to provide it in accordance with the care plan.
  • Effective Communication: Enhances the patient experience by adhering to compassion and image standards and fostering strong nurse-patient relationships through effective communication with patients, families, and visitors. Utilizes appropriate techniques and resources in all interactions to ensure understanding. Communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary team by providing thorough handoff communication in all situations.
  • Accurate Documentation: Demonstrates proficiency in recording and accessing patient information in the electronic medical record according to policy and in real-time. Ensures all documentation is appropriate, legible, and completed within established timeframes, in accordance with standards of care and departmental policies.

Qualifications for Success:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Current valid State of Florida or multistate license as a Registered Nurse
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Advanced Life Support (ACLS) Certification
  • EKG competency testing

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Professional Certification
