Position Summary:

The Associate Program Manager plays a pivotal role, working under close guidance to oversee or co-manage contract programs within the Airbus U.S. Space Systems line of business. This position acts as a primary liaison with customers, ensuring that all program aspects are executed effectively to meet financial, scheduling, and performance objectives. The APM is responsible for coordinating the efforts of various centralized functions, including engineering, supply chain, finance, trade compliance, and legal, to fulfill all program requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

Program Management (45%):

  • Assists in managing assigned space program(s) under supervision.
  • Monitors technical tasks, budgets, timelines, and risks for programs of lower complexity.
  • Facilitates project planning, budgeting, and scheduling while providing regular updates to supervisors.
  • Offers daily direction and support, collaborating with team members to ensure program plans are executed within budget and schedule.
  • Develops detailed Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and manages project costs against established baselines.
  • Works with master schedulers to create timelines that highlight major milestones and resource allocations.
  • Tracks indicators, identifies potential issues, and recommends corrective actions as necessary.
  • Manages project risks through a comprehensive risk management plan.
  • Ensures completion of Contract Data Requirements List (CDRLs) and adherence to timelines across various organizations.
  • Oversees milestone progress and manages invoicing for completed work.

Stakeholder Engagement (25%):

  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure successful program execution.
  • Directly manages partners and affiliates, overseeing program definitions, reviews, deliverables, and risk management.
  • Establishes effective working relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.

Financial and Compliance Coordination (25%):

  • Collaborates with finance, contracting, and compliance teams to ensure projects are managed within financial and contractual guidelines.
  • Provides guidance to keep programs on track.
  • Utilizes project management experience to enhance Airbus U.S. project management processes.

Other Duties as Assigned (5%):


Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace, systems, electrical, mechanical, or thermal engineering, or a related STEM field.

Certifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.

Experience:

  • Three years of relevant experience in satellite design or production.
  • Experience in technical or business project management.
  • Experience with subcontracting and supply chain teams is highly desirable.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Understanding of space systems and technologies.
  • Familiarity with U.S. government contracts.
  • Knowledge of program management metrics and reporting methods.

Communication Skills:

  • Strong analytical and presentation skills.
  • Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Proficient in Office 365, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Experience with MS Office suite and MS Project.

Travel Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Eligibility:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Clearance:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government security clearance.

Decision-Making:

  • Able to manage multiple activities and make informed decisions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to carry and lift documents and equipment up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and travel independently.
