About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Worker to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a Social Worker, you will play a critical role in providing psychosocial support and services to our nation's veterans and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Provide consultation services to other staff members regarding the psychosocial needs of veterans and the impact of psychosocial problems on healthcare and adherence to treatment plans.
  • Support Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) members with challenging veteran-care situations.
  • Provide leadership in identifying and addressing ethical issues impacting veterans and staff.
  • Initiate and participate in ethical consultations as appropriate.
  • Maintain complete veteran confidentiality.
  • Analyze ethical and care issues, applying appropriate theoretical principles, and ensure application of institutional policy.
  • Serve as a resource for the protection of veteran and family rights.
  • Provide considerate care respecting veteran and family value and belief systems.
  • Possess ability to evaluate his/her practice through professional peer review, case conferences, and other organizational means.
  • Have primary knowledge of use of medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities, and treatment procedures.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
  • Licensure or certification in a state at the independent practice level.
  • Ability to work with veterans and family members from various socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, educational, and other diversified backgrounds.
  • Ability to assess the psychosocial functioning and needs of veterans and their family members, and to formulate and implement a treatment plan.
  • Ability to implement treatment modalities in working with individuals, families, and groups to achieve treatment goals.
