Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Assist with patient preparation before and after oral surgical procedures, ensuring comfort and addressing any concerns.
- Clinical Assistance: Provide direct support to the oral surgeon during procedures, including handling instruments, suctioning, and maintaining a sterile field.
- Radiology: Take and develop dental radiographs as needed, ensuring proper safety protocols are followed.
- Equipment Management: Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment, adhering to infection control protocols.
- Patient Education: Instruct patients on postoperative care, including medication instructions, dietary restrictions, and follow-up appointments.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of treatments and procedures performed.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and order supplies as necessary to ensure the operatory is well-stocked and organized.
- Communication: Liaise effectively with patients, family members, and other dental staff to facilitate a smooth workflow.
- Emergency Preparedness: Be knowledgeable in emergency protocols and assist in emergency situations when necessary.
- Continuing Education: Stay updated on best practices and advancements in oral surgery and dental assisting through ongoing training and education.
Requirements:
