Chief Nursing Officer, Mental Health Services
POSITION SUMMARY:
This role is under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer and serves as the Director of the Education Training Program at Kedren Health. A valid Registered Nurse license and relevant experience as per CMS Regulations are essential.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Extensive knowledge of nursing principles, theories, and practices is required to execute complex nursing responsibilities that necessitate specialized training and experience. This includes medical history assessments, physical and emotional evaluations, setting health and nursing care objectives, formulating treatment plans, and assessing outcomes.
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is mandatory.
A valid and unrestricted registered nurse license in any U.S. state or territory is required.
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is necessary.
A minimum of five years of experience as a clinical psychiatric inpatient registered nurse is required.
A Master's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or Education is preferred.
Familiarity with the Department of Mental Health (DMH), Kedren Health, and relevant state regulations regarding employee development and training is crucial.
Knowledge of OSHA, TJC, and CMS standards is essential, along with familiarity with NCQA and CMS accreditation processes.
Comprehensive understanding of various nursing specialties to foster continuing education programs for registered nurses is required.
Experience in counseling and mentoring nursing staff regarding their educational needs is necessary.
Ability to assess, monitor, and evaluate staff and educational activities in relation to the needs of new nurse graduates and program objectives is essential.
Proficiency in data analysis and collection techniques to identify issues, establish priorities, and recommend resource utilization is required.
Proficient in using personal computers and software for maintaining databases, preparing reports, and tracking program activities.
Flexibility to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position involves moderate physical activity, including walking, standing for extended periods, and performing administrative tasks. It may require kneeling, lifting, and stooping during teaching and assessments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Act as a primary technical expert and consultant for the Educational Training Program at Kedren Health.
a. Participate in the development, planning, coordination, and implementation of employee orientation and education programs for hospital staff. Ensure that current clinical or administrative concerns are integrated into learning activities.
b. Evaluate the effectiveness of employee orientation and continuing education programs.
c. Establish criteria for orientation and continuing education programs based on hospital policies and accreditation standards.
d. Guide and direct professional nurses and staff in developing and presenting educational programs.
e. Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with departmental and external requirements.
f. Manage and coordinate clinical education for civilian graduate and undergraduate students.
g. Identify learning needs of hospital personnel and plan educational activities accordingly.
h. Prepare and submit comprehensive reports to relevant agencies.
i. Implement policies and initiatives as needed.
2. Conduct staff Learning Needs Assessment Surveys in accordance with policy and accreditation standards.
3. Facilitate information exchange and educational opportunities for improvement.
4. Provide consultative assistance on competency assessment issues.
5. Serve as an instructor for courses offered by hospital education as required.
