Agriculture Compliance Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Agriculture Compliance Specialist to join our team at the Georgia Department of Agriculture. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and guidelines related to agriculture and food safety.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct inspections and investigations of agricultural facilities, including farms, processing plants, and retail stores.
- Review and analyze data to identify trends and patterns related to agriculture and food safety.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve compliance and reduce risks associated with agriculture and food safety.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including farmers, processors, and retailers, to educate them on compliance requirements and best practices.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to stakeholders on agriculture and food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Bachelor's degree in agronomy, animal science, biology, chemistry, or a related field.
- Certification as a registered sanitarian or environmental health specialist.
- Two years of professional experience conducting inspections and investigations for compliance with established state and federal health and food and/or milk sanitation laws, rules, and regulations.
- Certification as a registered sanitarian or registered environmental health specialist by the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA).
- Two years of professional experience conducting inspections and investigations for compliance with established state and federal health and food and/or milk sanitation laws, rules, and regulations.
- Working knowledge of Windows computer operating system and applications.
The successful candidate must be able to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a fast-paced environment. The position also requires the ability to travel and work in a variety of settings, including outdoors.
