Position Overview:
The Risk Management Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing and implementing the issue management framework, ensuring that business units and stakeholders remain informed and synchronized regarding issue statuses and resolutions. This position demands outstanding communication, analytical, problem-solving, and time-management abilities to mitigate risks effectively and ensure accountability among business owners for risk management and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Examine and classify issues within the organization to identify patterns and offer insights for ongoing enhancement.
- Utilize extensive knowledge to aid in developing innovative techniques and refining processes and workflows within the department.
- Supervise and direct complex or high-risk issues to relevant business units for prompt resolution and compliance with deadlines.
- Engage with cross-functional teams to tackle systemic challenges and implement preventive strategies to reduce future occurrences.
- Maintain comprehensive records of all activities related to issues in the tracking system.
- Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and industry standards.
- Offer support and guidance to business units and stakeholders regarding the issue management framework.
- Facilitate and lead regular cross-functional meetings with process owners to follow up on unresolved issues, ensuring appropriate resolutions.
- Monitor the progress of business enhancements and provide feedback on documented action plans.
- Report any delays or compliance concerns to leadership.
- Prioritize issues based on severity and risk, ensuring timely execution of all action items and deliverables.
- Assess the impact of identified issues and engage relevant stakeholders to ensure proper escalation.
- Collaborate with Compliance Managers to address concerns raised by internal audits and determine the necessity of escalating issues formally.
- Communicate potential risks and regulatory violations to management and compliance teams.
- Identify areas of non-compliance and recommend process improvements to align with laws, rules, and regulations.
- Track each phase of the issue management process, including immediate resolutions, long-term strategic planning, validation of resolutions, and remediation efforts to ensure compliance.
- Evaluate risks in business decisions, demonstrating consideration for the organization's reputation and safeguarding SFS/FIFS, its clients, and assets by ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant state and federal laws and regulations.
- Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

- Experience Required: Minimum of two (2) years in a relevant field.
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Business or a related discipline, and/or a minimum of 2 years of experience in file auditing and compliance within consumer finance.
- Travel: Up to 20%.
- Location: Candidates must reside within a commutable distance to designated cities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of applicable state and federal consumer finance laws and regulations.
- Familiarity with the auto finance sector is advantageous.
- Direct experience in a compliance-focused role is preferred.
- Ability to identify process gaps that qualify as issues.
- Excellent communication skills across all management levels.
- Proficiency in organizing information and data within databases or other software.
- Capability to manage multiple projects concurrently while prioritizing tasks and maintaining a high level of responsiveness and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to drive results.
