Role Title: Tutor

Objective:
Are you passionate about preparing young individuals for their future educational and career paths? EPATT is looking for dedicated tutors who MUST BE IN CALIFORNIA TO APPLY.

As a tutor at EPATT, you will engage in one-on-one educational support for students ranging from Kindergarten to 12th grade. This position demands a strong commitment to teaching while following the EPATT curriculum, ensuring a significant positive impact on student learning outcomes.

About EPATT:
Founded in 1988, the East Palo Alto Tennis and Tutoring program (EPATT) is a well-established non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of students in East Palo Alto through a unique blend of personalized academic tutoring, tennis instruction, and enriching activities. Our mission is to prepare students for college and future careers.

Qualifications and Expectations:
MUST BE IN CALIFORNIA TO APPLY
We are in search of enthusiastic, committed, and innovative Tutor Specialists. Candidates should possess a solid understanding of math, reading, and writing at various educational levels. Ideal applicants will have an interest in education or the non-profit sector, with experience working with youth from underserved communities being advantageous.

  • Preferred: College degree or currently pursuing one
  • High school seniors may apply with proof of a minimum 3.5 GPA
  • Must be authorized to work in the USA
  • Ability to tailor instruction to meet individual student needs
  • Strong communication skills for explaining complex concepts and providing constructive feedback
  • Willingness to accept feedback and pursue professional growth
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal abilities
  • Demonstrated work ethic and enthusiasm
  • Must successfully pass a background check (fingerprinting required in California)

Work Environment:
This position is primarily remote, with in-person opportunities available for those near the East Palo Alto area.

Compensation:
The EPATT Tutor role is a part-time academic year position, contracted quarterly. Compensation includes a stipend of $400 awarded at the end of each quarter, contingent upon fulfilling all responsibilities. Tutors may also qualify for a $200 bonus for effective curriculum implementation. Most tutors earn approximately $600 over the tutoring period.
