Program Focus: Our Adult Residential Programs cater to adults facing challenges related to chemical dependency and/or mental health issues across four distinct locations in Albany County. The primary objective of these programs is to assist residents in managing their conditions and developing essential skills for successful community living.

Program Locations:

  • Holt House: Supports adults with both mental health challenges and developmental disabilities requiring 24/7 assistance.
  • Apartment Program: Designed for adults residing in one- or two-bedroom apartments who are prepared for greater independence with less structure.
  • Cohoes Residence: Aids adults with mental health diagnoses needing continuous support to manage their symptoms.
  • Recovery Residence: Serves men grappling with both mental health issues and addiction, requiring round-the-clock support.

Position Summary: The Residential Support Staff plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily activities of residents within single or scattered site residential treatment facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruct and assist residents in developing functional skills such as budgeting, hygiene, communication, and maintaining a clean living environment.
  • Facilitate transportation, meal preparation, shopping, social activities, day programs, medical appointments, and medication management as needed during shifts.
  • Ensure cleanliness in residential areas including bathrooms, living rooms, and offices, while participating in snow and trash removal.
  • Maintain accurate daily documentation for clients in the Electronic Health Record system.
  • Enhance resident awareness and access to community resources.
  • Support the development of relationships among staff, peers, and family members, promoting self-sufficiency.
  • Report incidents verbally and in writing to the Assistant and/or Program Manager.
  • Exemplify and promote the values and mission of Equinox Inc. within the community.
  • Supervise medication management, assisting clients with organization and refills.
  • Participate in all mandatory training sessions, including annual refresher courses (Crisis De-Escalation, CPR/First Aid, Boundaries, Medication Administration, etc.).
  • Encourage communication, cooperation, and collaboration across programs.
  • Exercise sound judgment and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Demonstrate reliability and dependability in all responsibilities.
  • Utilize feedback constructively and exhibit effective interpersonal skills.
  • Support team decisions and undertake additional duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Possess a valid NYS Driver's License for Day Shifts ONLY; not required for evening and overnight shifts.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma with one year of experience in human services, or an Associate's Degree in a related field without prior experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Work Schedule:

  • Schedule varies based on program needs, including day, evening, weekend shifts, and holidays.
