Position Overview:
The Academic Advisor is integral to fostering student achievement and retention. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities aimed at enhancing the academic journey of students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Success to establish and pursue student retention and success objectives for targeted groups.
- Implement initiatives designed to promote student success.
- Monitor and evaluate student retention metrics and other success indicators as required.
- Provide guidance and support to students in designated populations, including those nearing graduation, developmental learners, and student athletes.
- Develop resources that aid in academic success and advising.
- Conduct workshops and presentations to bolster both academic and personal success for students.
- Assist students in navigating the challenges of higher education and formulating realistic academic plans.
- Support students in maintaining satisfactory academic progress by informing them of relevant policies and available resources.
- Foster positive relationships with faculty and staff to ensure students receive accurate information.
- Refer students to appropriate campus services for assistance with academic and personal challenges.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree is essential. Candidates should possess strong interpersonal and written communication skills, the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, proficient computer skills, and flexibility for evening and weekend work as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications: A master's degree accompanied by two years of relevant experience.
Compensation:
Salary will be commensurate with educational background and experience.
