Job Title: Airborne Law Enforcement Pilot

DeKalb County seeks qualified candidates to fill the position of Airborne Law Enforcement Pilot.

Job Summary:

The Airborne Law Enforcement Pilot will fly helicopters as pilot-in-command or second-in-command in departmental aircraft for law enforcement-related missions, searches, or disaster assessment, and transport authorized personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Briefs crew members and passengers on aircraft protocol.
  • Performs line pilot functions, including flying helicopters for law enforcement missions and searches.
  • Completes pre-flight and post-flight inspections, adhering to Airbus Flight Manual and FAA regulations.
  • Performs maintenance functions, such as cleaning and refueling aircraft.
  • Operates specialized flight-related equipment.
  • Makes go/no-go flight decisions based on weather conditions, maintenance, and flight safety considerations.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of at least 1500 rotorcraft-helicopter flight hours and 1000 total helicopter PIC hours.
  • FAA Commercial Helicopter Certificate and 1st or 2nd class medical certificate required.
  • Valid Georgia driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • License/rating/certification on an Airbus/Eurocopter AS350B2 helicopter.
