Job Summary:
As a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist on our Adult Team, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and crisis intervention as needed to members who present themselves for psychiatric evaluation. You will collaborate with treating physicians, psychiatric, and allied health professionals to plan and direct each individual member's treatment program.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate clinical treatment programs for the diagnosis, treatment, and/or referral of Health Plan members with acute or chronic mental illness.
  2. Participate in staff conferences to select, plan, and evaluate treatment programs.
  3. Provide outpatient psychotherapy to individuals, couples, families, and groups.
  4. Instruct and counsel patients and their families regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens and adherence to prescribed medication regimens, within the scope of practice.
  5. May administer specialized therapeutic procedures, as appropriate.
  6. Provide appropriate support to members' families.
  7. May develop and conduct psychoeducational classes and groups.
  8. Prepare intake summaries, treatment plans, and case summaries and maintain ongoing confidential records.
  9. Charts members' treatment and progress in accord with state and NCQA regulations and in keeping with accepted community standards.
  10. May be required to participate in the department on-call rotation.
  11. Collaborate with physicians in screening and evaluating patients for psychotropic medications, within the scope of practice.
  12. Utilize resources of public and private agencies and community organizations to meet the needs of the members' treatment.


Basic Qualifications:
  1. Masters degree in Social Work, Social Welfare from a clinical track, Clinical or Counseling Psychology, or related field required from an accredited college or university.
  2. Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (California)

Additional Requirements:
  1. Must be familiar with DSM-V as a means of diagnosis.
  2. Has experience in assessing, diagnosing, and treating a broad range of psychiatric conditions.
  3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  4. Knowledge of social service agencies, state regulations, and professional board standards as is related to member treatment, patient rights, and member/patient confidentiality.
  5. May be required to participate in the department on-call rotation.
  6. Knowledge of Evidence-Based Practice and psychotherapy research methods.
  7. Knowledge of the bio-psycho-social functions that contribute to mental health.
  8. Accuracy in diagnosing patients and developing effective treatment plans.
  9. Competence in individual, family, and group psychotherapy.
  10. Professional maturity and ethical integrity necessary for assuming professional responsibilities.
  11. Commitment to quality of service, teamwork, and participation in a highly interactive multidisciplinary clinic.
  12. Ability to complete multiple tasks/objectives in a timely manner.

Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Previous post-license experience as a member of a psychiatric treatment team in an outpatient or inpatient setting/program under licensed supervision.
  2. Previous clinical responsibility to include crisis intervention, individual, and group psychotherapy.
  3. Demonstrated professional maturity and ethical integrity necessary for assuming professional responsibilities.
  4. Demonstrated commitment to quality of service, teamwork, and participation in a highly interactive multidisciplinary clinic.
  5. Demonstrated ability to complete multiple tasks/objectives in a timely manner.
  6. Accuracy in diagnosing patients and developing effective treatment plans.
  7. Competence in individual, family, and group psychotherapy.
