Role Summary:

The Sports Dietitian position at Lamar University is designed for registered dietitians who aspire to excel in the realm of collegiate athletics. This role provides a unique opportunity to engage with Division I student-athletes while honing essential administrative skills such as budgeting and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities:

- Oversee the operational management of the Athletics Nutrition Center.
- Prepare daily meals tailored for student-athletes.
- Conduct regular consultations with teams and individual athletes.
- Mentor student employees and volunteers.
- Facilitate recruitment and retention initiatives for current and prospective student staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Strength & Conditioning Coordinator.

Essential Competencies:

- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across the Athletics department and the College of Education and Human Development.
- Openness to feedback and adaptability to diverse situations.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Capacity to interpret scientific research and convey information to student-athletes in a clear and efficient manner.
- Professionalism, punctuality, and attention to detail.
- Understanding of confidentiality and privacy regulations.
- Strict adherence to NCAA, Southland Conference, and university regulations.

Physical Requirements:

- Ability to occasionally lift supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
- Registered Dietitian or eligibility within three months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

- 2-3 years of relevant experience in a collegiate athletic environment or similar setting.
- Interest in pursuing Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD) credential.
