Position Overview:

The role of the Sports Dietitian at Lamar University is designed for registered dietitians aiming to advance their careers within collegiate athletics. This position offers the chance to engage with Division I student-athletes while honing essential administrative skills such as budgeting and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the operational management of the Athletics Nutrition Center.
  • Prepare daily meals tailored for student-athletes.
  • Provide ongoing consultations with teams and individual athletes.
  • Act as a mentor for student employees and volunteers.
  • Coordinate recruitment and retention initiatives for current and prospective student staff.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Strength & Conditioning Coordinator.

Essential Competencies:
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues in the Athletics department and the College of Education and Human Development.
  • Receptiveness to feedback and adaptability to diverse situations.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Capability to interpret scientific research and convey information to student-athletes efficiently.
  • Professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and privacy regulations.

Physical Requirements:
Occasional lifting of supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
