This position oversees the entire kitchen operation, ensuring seamless execution of menu items and exceptional guest experiences. In the absence of the Executive Chef, the Lead Cook is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and train kitchen staff to ensure effective teamwork and productivity.
- Develop and implement menu items, ensuring compliance with company standards and local health codes.
- Manage inventory, ordering, and receiving of food and supplies.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment, adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Resolve guest and team member concerns in a professional and timely manner.
- Expedite during peak periods, ensuring efficient service and high-quality food products.
- Prepare and present menu items to the highest standards, adhering to company recipes and presentation guidelines.
- Delegate responsibilities and authority to staff, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
- Conduct regular walk-throughs to ensure compliance with company standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless execution of events and promotions.
- Minimum 4 years of cooking experience, with all aspects, including Garde Manger, Baking, and Butcher Shop.
- Must have one of the following: American Culinary Federation, CSC certification, or higher 3-year culinary apprenticeship, or 4-5 years in a high-volume outlet.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Competent cooking and knife skills, with a solid understanding of cooking methods and procedures.
- Ability to supervise and work hands-on in various food service operations.
- Competent knowledge and compliance of local health codes.
- Ability to work any hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and function under extreme pressure.
- Must be a team player, with a desire to better themselves and those around them.
This role requires standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, and reaching throughout the shift. The ability to work from a standing position for extended periods is essential. The kitchen environment can be hot and fast-paced, with exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, and physical demands.
Pay: $25.00 per hour, depending on experience. Harrah's Resort Southern California is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer, and preference is given to qualified Rincon tribal members and members of other federally recognized tribes.
