Surgical Technologist

About the Role:
HCA Florida Capital Hospital is seeking a skilled and dedicated Surgical Technologist to provide exceptional patient care and contribute to the success of our hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide care to patients under the direction of the RN, utilizing the nursing process, in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of HCA Florida Capital Hospital.
- Communicate, interact, and participate in teamwork on the unit.
- Communicate and participate in patient care activities in direct conjunction with the RN.
- Demonstrate knowledge and application of the nursing process.
- Participate and cooperate in the unit-based Quality Improvement processes.
- Maintain and practice quality patient care through effective use of resources and personnel.
- Practice, develop, and endorse customer service skills in relationships with internal and external customers.
- Serve as the patient and family advocate with respect to the patients' right to privacy by protecting confidential information.
- Actively seek ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the occurrence reporting system and use it to report potential patient safety issues.
- Follow established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient's care which results in patient harm.
- Responsible for daily availability of supplies and equipment specific to specialty coordination with the OR Materials Coordinator, SPD Supervisor, CSS, and/or Director.
- Coordinate and maintain instrument trays to assure they are available and in good repair.
- Responsible for restocking and maintaining standard stock of supplies; coordinates ordering with OR Materials Coordinator or SPD Supervisor.
- Responsible for assuring physician preference cards are current in computer database.
- Maintain current knowledge base of changing equipment technologies and techniques within their specialty area.
- Attend in-service presentations and complete all mandatory education requirements.
- Use Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
- Regular, punctual, and dependable attendance.
- Work with physicians to ensure service time is operating efficiently.
Requirements:
- Surg Tech Certificate required.
- BLS certificate required.
- Previous Scrubbing experience required.
