Job Title: Litigation Legal Assistant

Job Summary:
Messner Reeves LLP, a national law firm, is seeking a highly skilled and organized Litigation Legal Assistant to support our team in San Jose. As a key member of our litigation team, you will be responsible for coordinating complex scheduling, managing client relationships, and preparing critical documents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate attorney meetings, court deadlines, and depositions with precision and attention to detail.
  • Manage heavy client contact, including communication with witnesses and opposing counsel.
  • Organize and maintain records, documents, and files in a secure and accessible format.
  • Draft correspondence, memoranda, and other legal documents with accuracy and professionalism.
  • Prepare files and binders for hearings, depositions, meetings, and trial with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Assist with client engagement and retention, including preparation of engagement letters and conflict checks.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating a strong work ethic and consistent schedule.
  • Collaborate with the team to achieve shared goals and objectives.

Requirements:
  • Experience handling multiple attorneys with full caseloads.
  • Experience with defense cases and familiarity with federal and state court procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology, court rules, and procedures.
  • Pre-trial preparation and trial assistance experience required.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment and live in California.
