We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Operations Manager to join our team at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our financial operations team, you will play a critical role in managing the financial operations of our diverse portfolio of projects.

Responsibilities
Your primary responsibility as a Senior Financial Operations Manager will be to oversee the preparation, review, and analysis of financial data related to our direct-sponsored project portfolio. This includes performing monthly updates of project plans, highlighting financial spending and staffing trends, identifying anomalies, and calculating financial projections. You will also be responsible for building, updating, and submitting all monthly financial reports to government sponsors and program managers.
In addition to these responsibilities, you will lead the proposal development process by collaborating with resource owners to identify staffing requirements and preparing all basis of estimates (BOEs), resulting in accurate and fully compliant proposal packages for submission to government sponsors. You will also perform a broad range of financial operations functions, including leading all efforts related to contract and financial administration and providing sound contractual and financial guidance and recommendations for best practices to program managers.
You will actively participate in program reviews and program/sponsor meetings and proactively respond to and address all business/financial matters pertaining to the program.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have a Bachelor's degree in a field of Business (e.g., Business Management, Accounting, Business Administration, Finance) or equivalent years of experience and 2+ years of relevant experience in the areas of financial and cost analysis. You must also have proven ability to be a self-starter with a high level of initiative and ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Additionally, you should be highly skilled in Microsoft Excel and able to obtain an interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in DoD contracting environment, working knowledge of FAR and federal government pricing procedures, and experience with proposal preparation and project financial reporting software are highly desirable but not required.
