Job Summary

UPMC Jameson, a leading healthcare provider, is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join its Surgical Services Team. As a key member of the operating room team, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate instrumentation, equipment, and supplies to ensure proper use and availability for quality patient service.
  • Assist the surgical team with setting up surgical instruments and equipment, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions.
  • Prepare patients for surgery by washing, shaving, and ensuring aseptic incision sites.
  • Scrub, secure additional supplies as required, maintain asepsis in the Operating Room, select and sterilize instruments, set up for surgical procedures, hand the surgeon instruments and sutures, store equipment and instruments.
  • Assist in the preparation, care for, and disposal of specimens taken for laboratory analysis.
  • Support cost containment in the use of materials and equipment.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, specialty team members, and other departments to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and assist in implementation.

Requirements:

  • Completion of a formal surgical technician program.
  • 3 years of current Operating Room experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of at least 2 surgical specialists with 1 year experience in selected specialty desired.
  • CPR certification.
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting, Act 33, Act 34, and Act 73 FBI Clearance.
