Surgical Technologist

About the Role:
The Surgical Technologist works under the supervision of the surgeon and RN, assisting the surgical team during operative procedures. This includes arranging and inventorying sterile set-up of instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical cases, as well as passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Uses physician preference cards to identify supplies and equipment needed for scheduled surgical or emergency procedures.
- Sets up sterile tables with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures.
- Prepares solutions and medications used, properly labeling and reporting amounts used for charting.
- Prepares back tables and mayo stands anticipating needs of the surgeon and through the use of the surgeon's preference card.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Successful completion of an approved Surgical Technician program
- Basic computer skills required, with one year of experience in a surgical setting preferred
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Association)
- Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado
- Certified Surgical Tech - National
- Certification in Surgical Technology from the National Board Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or Certification as a Tech in Surgery from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
