Role of the Registered Nurse Supervisor

As a pivotal member of our healthcare team, the Registered Nurse Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of compassionate care to patients and their families. This leadership position involves guiding a team of Registered Nurses while promoting a collaborative work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Practice within the scope of Registered Nursing.
  • Report directly to the Director of Nursing.
  • Conduct training sessions for Registered and Licensed Vocational Nurses.
  • Facilitate weekly structured staff meetings for education and development.
  • Evaluate staff performance and complete annual assessments.
  • Oversee daily infusion operations and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Travel to various sites for operational inspections.
  • Demonstrate the ability to implement the nursing process in patient care.
  • Collaborate effectively with operational management.
  • Manage staff schedules and address call-outs and ratios.
  • Handle disciplinary matters as necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to established nursing practice standards.
  • Supervise and delegate patient care tasks to nursing staff.
  • Foster teamwork with physicians and other departmental personnel.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience in nursing.
  • Oncology experience is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Current Registered Nurse license in good standing in the state of California.
  • ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certification required within three months of hire.
  • OCN certification preferred but not mandatory.
  • Maintain current BLS certification throughout employment.
  • BLS certification required upon hire; ACLS certification preferred.
