Position Overview:
The Grants Management Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting principal investigators with various financial tasks related to grant management. This includes assisting in the preparation and revision of budgets, ensuring accurate reconciliation of monthly financial reports, and identifying necessary cost transfers.

Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with principal investigators to collect and compile essential information for grant proposals.
- Enter data into the SPS system accurately.
- Provide both technical and administrative support during the negotiation, creation, and management of grants and contracts.
- Prepare critical proposal components, including biosketches and resource allocations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations, policies, and protocols.
- Ensure proper allocation of effort for individuals funded wholly or partially by federal awards.
- Implement awarded grant and contract budgets within the university's financial systems.
- Monitor daily activities of grant and contract projects, coordinating necessary reporting requirements.
- Track proposal statuses and advise principal investigators on compliance deadlines associated with research protocols.
- Assist in preparing documentation for site visits as required.
- Reconcile financial information on sponsor reports with the general ledger, ensuring compliance with sponsor terms and conditions.
- Support the Revenue Management process for industry-funded projects.
- Generate and send invoices to sponsors for negotiated fees and procedures as outlined in grants or contracts.
- Analyze indirect costs associated with sponsored projects, making necessary calculations and journal entries to rectify discrepancies.
- Assist in processing renewal applications for existing protocols.
- Prepare various financial reports as mandated by sponsors, ensuring compliance with their terms and conditions.
- Facilitate necessary financial transactions and closeout activities for grants and contracts.
