Job Overview:


The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist plays a vital role in enhancing patient outcomes by delivering comprehensive pharmaceutical care tailored to individual needs. This position emphasizes optimal medication management and resource utilization, while integrating pharmacoeconomic principles throughout the healthcare continuum.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Effectively manages personal pharmacy practice to align with departmental objectives.

2. Contributes to the development of goals, initiatives, and performance metrics for the pharmacy department.

3. Engages in pharmacotherapeutic planning and decision-making processes.

4. Actively participates in both interdepartmental and intradepartmental committees to foster collaboration.

5. Supervises and guides healthcare team members in their roles.

6. Provides educational resources and training to staff and patients.

7. Offers expert drug information and consultation services.

8. Involves in research projects and studies aimed at improving professional knowledge and patient care outcomes.

9. Oversees medication orders with a focus on age-specific safety considerations, ensuring proper processing, preparation, and dispensing.

10. Prepares and processes sterile products for patient use.

11. Achieves assigned performance goals and objectives.


Qualifications:

Education:

Preferred: Advanced degree in health-system pharmacy services.

Minimum: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.).

Experience:

Preferred: Not applicable.

Minimum: Not applicable.

Licensure and Certification:

Minimum: Licensed Pharmacist in the relevant state.

Special Skills:

Preferred: Membership in state or national pharmacy associations.

Minimum: Proficient communication and computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office. Strong analytical skills to interpret medication orders for optimal use. Capable of teaching and mentoring pharmacy residents, students, and interns.

Training:

Preferred: Completion of a PGY-2 Pharmacy Residency or equivalent experience exceeding three years, along with BLS and ACLS certifications.

Minimum: Completion of a PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency or equivalent clinical experience of three years.
