Job Title: Pre-K Auxiliary Teacher

Job Summary:

The Pre-K Auxiliary Teacher will work closely with teachers to deliver high-quality educational experiences to students. This role requires a strong commitment to early childhood education and a passion for supporting the development of young learners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized instruction and support to students who require additional assistance.
  • Assist teachers with group activities and deliver small group instruction.
  • Reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
  • Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work as assigned by the teacher.
  • Assist in devising special strategies to reinforce material or skills based on the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Monitor seat work and workbook assignments, and assist students with make-up work.
  • Supervise and assist with morning duties of students.
  • Escort students to and from lunch, monitor students in the cafeteria and hallways, and maintain a reasonable noise level.
  • Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, and field trips.
  • Report discipline problems to the appropriate personnel and maintain classroom order.
  • Keep inventory and order clerical supplies and tools for instructional assistance as needed.
  • Prepare materials requested by classroom teachers, including designing and binding books, preparing graphs, and student name charts for classroom use.
  • Distribute and collect workbooks, papers, and other instructional materials.
  • Operate and care for instructional equipment and materials as assigned by the teacher.
  • Assist students in mastering the use of equipment or instructional materials.
  • Help students with their clothing, and assist with lunch, snack, and clean-up routines.
  • Assist with wash-up and toilet routines, ensuring hygiene standards are met.
  • Alert the regular teacher to any problems or special information regarding individual students.
  • Serve as the chief source of information and help to substitute teachers in the absence of the regular teacher.
  • Read to students, listen to students read, and engage in other forms of oral communication with students.
  • Assist students in the library or media center.
  • Maintain bulletin boards and other classroom learning displays to ensure they are up-to-date and visually engaging.
  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher to support and enhance the learning environment.
  • Administer, score, and record achievement and diagnostic tests as recommended by the teacher.
  • Check notebooks, correct papers, and supervise testing and make-up work as assigned.
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality regarding student information.
  • Participate in in-service training programs and other professional development opportunities as assigned.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal(s) and/or Pre-K Lead Teacher.
Qualifications:
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must possess a Child Development Associate credential (CDA) or at least 9 credit hours of college coursework in Early Childhood Education or Child Development from a regionally accredited institution.
Evaluation:

Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board policy on evaluation of personnel.

Salary Range: Salary is based on Board approved salary schedule based on rank, certification and experience. (Actual salary will be determined upon verification of experience.)
