Job Title: English Language Learner Teacher

We are seeking a highly qualified English Language Learner Teacher to join our team at the Alabama Department of Education. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing instruction and support to English Language Learners (ELLs) in grades K-12.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement curriculum and programming specific to the needs of ELLs.
  • Provide instruction and support to ELLs in grades K-12.
  • Monitor the academic progress of ELLs and make recommendations to regular classroom teachers.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop and implement strategies to support ELLs.
  • Administer placement tests and spring ACCESS assessments to ELLs.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Alabama professional educator certificate.
  • Minimum of three (3) years successful classroom experience.
  • Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.
  • Ability to use technology to communicate, plan and provide instruction, facilitate student learning, manage data, and produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information.
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of autonomy. The ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents is essential.
