As a Lead Financial Accountant, you will have the opportunity to refine your expertise in statutory accounting while spearheading the modernization of our financial reporting processes. This role allows you to influence both short-term and long-term strategic objectives of the department. You will be responsible for providing insightful narratives alongside data to enhance understanding and address the needs of our business partners.

Your Impact
  • Analyze unexpected data trends and provide comprehensive narratives for report recipients.
  • Ensure robust financial controls across all accounting functions.
  • Review and approve accounting processes, including financial reports and profitability metrics.
  • Deliver detailed analyses and clarifications of financial transactions.
  • Oversee the effective administration of accounting software systems.
  • Anticipate inquiries from report recipients and provide insightful narratives for end users.
  • Understand the requirements of internal stakeholders and develop tailored reports or tools to meet their needs.
  • Continuously monitor existing reporting and analysis tools, recommending enhancements for more meaningful data.
  • Ensure adherence to statutory accounting standards and compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Apply professional skepticism and analytical thinking to current accounting practices.
  • Act as a liaison between accounting/finance and business partners, clarifying complex accounting and reporting issues.
  • Lead initiatives for continuous improvement within the department and collaborate on corporate projects.
  • Manage special projects, including support for monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes, system implementations, and process enhancements.
  • Develop solutions and recommendations for complex accounting challenges.
  • Research and track changes in statutory and regulatory requirements, suggesting necessary updates to processes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all technical accounting responsibilities.
  • Build strong relationships within the Corporate Accounting team and across the organization.
  • Participate in and lead project work, representing the Corporate Accounting function in corporate initiatives.
  • Document the rationale behind current processes and lead their development.
  • Encourage a collaborative team environment by mentoring colleagues within the Corporate Accounting department.
  • Focus on proactive service to both internal and external customers.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of accounting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with at least 6 years of accounting experience.
  • Alternatively, 6 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capability to identify and leverage continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Effective multitasking and prioritization skills.
  • Understanding of company policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the insurance industry is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, and analytical software (e.g., Power BI).
