We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician I to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will play a vital role in assisting pharmacists with various tasks, ensuring the smooth operation of our pharmacy services.
Key Responsibilities- Assist pharmacists with preparing and dispensing medications, including unit-dose medications and controlled substances.
- Read and interpret physician orders and prescriptions, preparing medications for dispensing.
- Communicate with patients and caregivers to determine medication needs and schedule delivery or pickup.
- Take inventory and analyze medication supplies, replacing outdated or deteriorated medications.
- Perform arithmetic calculations for medication preparation and dosage determinations.
- Label and package medications accurately, maintaining records of inventory and supplies.
- Ensure pharmacy service areas and drug storage areas are clean and organized.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- National certification as a Pharmacy Technician (PTCB or EXCPT) within 15 months of hire.
- Registration with the state Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician trainee (except Pennsylvania).
- Experience in a pharmacy setting preferred.
The Pharmacy Technician I will work in a fast-paced pharmacy environment, requiring attention to detail and strong communication skills. The ideal candidate will be able to lift 30 pounds and push 50 pounds, with dexterity to handle and reach.
