Job Description

As a Surgical Nurse Coordinator at Surgery Center, you will play a vital role in supporting patient care and clinical operations for Surgery, including subspecialties. Your responsibilities will include training medical assistants on preparing charts, implementing pre-visit planning protocols for Surgery and Surgery Subspecialties clinics, and working with the Access Center Nursing team to implement triage matrix. You will also be responsible for triaging referrals, obtaining pre-authorizations, providing pre-op patient education, and working with patients post-discharge to schedule follow-up appointments. Additionally, you will process and manage prescription refills and assist with obtaining pre-authorizations. This is an excellent opportunity to work in an academic setting and contribute to the success of our team.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse licensed in the District of Columbia
  • 3+ years of ambulatory setting experience (surgical environment preferred) or 2+ years in a med/surg unit
  • Pre-Op/PACU experience with experience providing patient education
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Comfortable providing training to Medical Assistants on charting
  • Experience working in an academic setting preferred
  • Bachelor's in Nursing
