Surgical Coordinator

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Coordinator to join our team at Children's National Hospital. As a key member of our operating room team, you will be responsible for coordinating surgical procedures, ensuring seamless patient flow, and providing exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate surgical procedures, including scheduling, pre-certification, and insurance verification
- Work closely with parents, surgeons, and other departments to ensure timely and accurate scheduling
- Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and patient information
- Coordinate vendor or specialized equipment required for surgical procedures
- Provide expertise and support to other schedulers, including cross-coverage and new insurance notifications
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation in Cerner and other EMR systems
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in patient registration and scheduling, medical insurance verification, and EMR systems
- Proficiency in Cerner and/or similar EMR systems, CNHS HBOC, and PPM/PSM systems
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and consumer relations skills
- Knowledge of medical insurance verification procedures, insurance screening, and financial counseling
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment
