Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Full-Time Construction Staff Accountant to become a vital part of our Boulder office. This role will involve managing all monthly accounting tasks and various accounting-related functions, such as general bookkeeping, processing accounts payable, conducting bank reconciliations, overseeing construction loan draws, job cost accounting, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, and maintaining organized accounting records. The position will report directly to the Vice President of Finance and will have a direct line of communication with the President of the Company. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to gain practical experience in financial processes related to multifamily construction, development, and property management.
Key Responsibilities
- Executing general monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting and bookkeeping tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and journal entries.
- Compiling information for monthly construction loan draws, including client billing packages in accordance with contractual obligations.
- Preparing bank deposits, performing monthly bank and general ledger reconciliations, and managing cash receipt entries.
- Ensuring the receipt of necessary vendor/subcontractor documentation, including invoices, insurance, bonding, SDI, workers' compensation, statutory declarations, and lien waivers as applicable.
- Interpreting trade partner documentation related to accounting matters.
- Providing project teams with ad hoc reports and analyses as required.
- Maintaining an organized internal filing system.
- Completing all financial transactions promptly and accurately.
- Building relationships with accounting counterparts in client and subcontractor offices.
- Carrying out additional accounting and construction-related duties as needed.

Additional Requirements
- Fundamental knowledge of accounting principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

- Willingness to commute to the office or relocate prior to starting work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project.
- Enthusiasm for learning new software and systems, including Yardi, Procore, and QuickBooks.
Education and Experience
- Undergraduate degree is required.
- A degree in accounting or construction is considered an asset.
- At least one year of professional accounting experience in construction or a related field is preferred.
Work Environment
