Job Title: Director of Live Operations

This is a critical role within our organization, responsible for overseeing the entire Live Operations process, from start to finish. The successful candidate will work closely with management teams to ensure efficient operations, optimize flock health, and meet budget expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all live operations management to optimize flock health and efficient operations.
  • Coordinate career enrichment training programs for staff and management.
  • Perform annual performance appraisal evaluations to set and ensure goals are being met.
  • Coordinate weekly with consulting veterinarian and nutritionist to support company objectives.
  • Communicate daily with staff, management, and growers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Oversee all activities, including safe and efficient moving of turkeys, biosecurity, and animal welfare compliance, and equipment cleaning.
  • Assist in setting and adhering to required budget, meeting all financial targets by identifying and implementing cost savings.
  • Generate, maintain, and distribute various reports as needed, such as mortalities, placements, costings, and field performance.
  • Ensure sales needs are being met.
  • Attend management meetings as needed, updating and addressing any issues.
  • Serve as a strong contact for growers with any issues.
  • Direct critical Grow Out programs, including a Grower Performance Improvement plan.
  • Responsible for Pennsylvania NAU and organic operations.
  • Ensure animal welfare policies are met, along with documented annual training for all growers and live personnel.
Requirements:
  • Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her own actions.
  • Assertiveness- acting with a self-confidence manner to facilitate completion of work assignments or to defend a position or idea.
  • Must maintain high level of confidentiality.
  • Must be willing to attend seminars, conferences, web casts for career development and job enrichment.
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
  • 4-10 years of experience working in the poultry industry (Required).
  • Intensive knowledge of poultry house ventilation, essential poultry disease, and biosecurity and animal welfare procedures.
  • Microsoft Office suit - mastering excel spread sheets.
  • Valid Driver license.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Be able to stand, bend, walk, sit, climb, squat, or kneel.
  • Be able to drive long distance in different weather conditions.
  • Exposure to dust, wet conditions, humidity, chemicals, noise, and allergens.
