Key Responsibilities:

The primary role of the Resident Care Assistant (RCA) is to deliver both physical and emotional support to residents, ensuring their dignity, choices, and individuality are respected. This position is accountable to the shift supervisor and the Wellness Director.

Core Duties:

  • Deliver all essential care and services to assigned residents while assisting fellow wellness team members as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and other team members.
  • Assist residents with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, toileting, eating, and mobility.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions with residents and their families.
  • Report any suspected or observed instances of abuse to licensed staff immediately.
  • Utilize safe transfer techniques when assisting residents with mobility.
  • Manage residents' laundry as necessary.
  • Adhere to infection control procedures and safety protocols as outlined by health authorities.
  • Document services provided accurately on company forms.
  • Operate necessary medical equipment and communication devices.
  • Facilitate resident transportation and coordinate internal needs.
  • Assist residents with personal correspondence and communication when requested.
  • Observe and report changes in residents' physical and emotional conditions to the Wellness Director or supervisor.
  • Conduct regular room checks and resident rounds.
  • Monitor for safety hazards in the environment.
  • Respond to emergencies promptly and report them to the supervisor.
  • Employ tactful communication techniques in sensitive situations.
  • Follow up on reported concerns and complaints with appropriate staff or residents.
