Role Summary: The Activities Director will be responsible for the design and execution of enriching programs and events that foster social interaction, wellness, education, and recreation tailored to the interests and needs of our senior residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging lifestyle programming that includes both in-house activities and external excursions.
  • Train and support caregivers in delivering meaningful activities to residents in their respective areas.
  • Create a comprehensive weekly activity schedule that accommodates various levels of care.
  • Encourage participation among residents who may be less engaged.
  • Conduct interviews with residents to assess their interests and satisfaction with current programming.
  • Monitor resident behaviors and report any significant changes to appropriate staff members.
  • Uphold the dignity and privacy of each resident in all interactions.
  • Utilize community resources and independent contractors to diversify program offerings.
  • Manage the monthly budget for activities and maintain accurate records.
  • Oversee the procurement and maintenance of supplies and equipment for the activities department.
  • Regularly produce and distribute newsletters and calendars to communicate upcoming events.
  • Ensure proper staffing coverage for all scheduled activities.
  • Collaborate with other departments to coordinate shared events.
  • Build and maintain a volunteer database to enhance programming opportunities.
  • Keep the activity area organized and inviting, with seasonal decorations as appropriate.
  • Effectively manage recreational programs and ensure balanced engagement with residents of varying cognitive levels.
  • Organize training sessions and support groups as needed.
  • Work effectively with residents across various care levels, including assisted living and memory care.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as an Activities Director or Assistant in a senior living environment, or completion of an accredited activities program.

Preferred Experience:

  • 1 year in a Director/Supervisor role.
  • 3 years in Activities/Recreation.
  • 2 years in Dementia/Alzheimer's care.

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED.
