We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Orthopedic Technician to join our team at Highmark Health. As an Orthopedic Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our orthopedic physicians and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Assist physicians and extenders in providing medical and clerical support for orthopedic practice locations.
- Perform various procedures, including wound care, EKGs, removal of sutures/staples, and application/removal of orthopedic casts/splints.
- Coordinate patient care under the supervision of assigned healthcare providers.
- Prepare and room patients for clinical procedures, documenting patient health information, history, and medications.
- Accurately interview patients and order radiographs according to physician protocols.
- Document all pertinent details in the electronic health record, reviewing and updating patient information as needed.
- Function as a scribe to the provider when needed to maintain clinic workflow.
- Perform pre-visit chart management tasks, obtaining diagnostic reports and reviewing charts for completion.
- Scans pertinent findings from outside information to physicians and staff as necessary.
- Educate patients on proper wound and pin care, cast care, and postoperative care.
- High School Diploma/GED
- Proof of graduation from an AHN-approved Medical Assistant School within five years of hire or relevant experience as determined by the company
- Medical Assistant Certification or Athletic Trainer Licensure within 120 days of hire
- CPR - American Heart Association
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- 3-5 years' experience as an Ortho Technician, Medical Assistant, or Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC)
