Key Responsibilities
  • Training and Development: Design and deliver comprehensive training programs for new drivers, driver trainers, and risk management personnel to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties safely and effectively.
  • Safety Policy and Procedure Development: Collaborate with management to develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures that meet or exceed industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Driver Safety Technology and Reporting: Assist with the implementation and maintenance of safety technology systems and provide regular reports to management on safety performance metrics.
  • Vehicle Inspections and Maintenance: Conduct regular pre- and post-trip inspections of company vehicles and ensure that all vehicles are properly maintained and equipped to meet safety standards.
  • Route Optimization and Downtime Management: Work with maintenance personnel to minimize route downtime and optimize routes to ensure efficient and safe operations.
  • Special Projects and Safety Initiatives: Participate in special projects and safety initiatives as assigned by management to improve safety performance and reduce risk.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: 3 years of progressively responsible experience in a solid waste operation, including 6 months of supervisory experience.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with Air Brakes.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to safely operate all collection vehicles and equipment, knowledge of FMCSA, OSHA, Federal DOT, and other related state and federal regulations, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
