Position Overview:

Key Qualifications and Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience in an Audio-Visual Technician capacity or a comparable position.
  • In-depth technical expertise with audio-visual apparatus, including but not limited to cameras, projectors, sound systems, lighting, and associated accessories.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot a variety of audio-visual technologies and software proficiently.
  • Strong analytical skills with a knack for quick thinking and innovative problem-solving under challenging circumstances.
  • Meticulous attention to detail coupled with robust organizational abilities to guarantee precise setup and equipment management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with clients, team members, and suppliers.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends based on client or site needs, with potential travel requirements.
  • Physical endurance and capability to lift and transport substantial equipment.
  • Relevant certifications or training in audio-visual technology are advantageous but not essential.
  • Familiarity with brands such as Extron, Shure, NEC, and QSC is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Possession of CTS/CTS-I certification or the willingness to obtain it within six months.
  • Competence in the physical installation of projection screens, display mounts, ceiling speakers, wired microphones, and equipment racks.
  • Ability to run cabling, utilize hand/power tools, and perform soldering, crimping, and compressing for a wide range of AV interfaces and connectors.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including skills in Excel, Word, Email, and Teams.

Technical Skills Required:

  • Fundamental understanding of control systems, including TCP/IP control, RS-232, IR, etc.
  • Knowledge of video signal transmission types, including HDBaseT and AV over IP.
  • Familiarity with cable and connector types, such as twisted pair, HDMI, DisplayPort, etc.
  • Understanding of audio processing and audio system components and standards (mic/line audio, familiarity with Dante audio, etc.).
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and execute rack elevations, line/block schematics, and floor plans.
  • Willingness to learn control system programming, including GUI Design and control programming (experience with Extron GCP is preferred).
  • Knowledge of best practices for device installation and mounting (i.e., displays, projectors, speakers, etc.).
  • Familiarity with general audio/visual terminology (i.e., matrix switcher, scaler, DSP, etc.).
