The Nursing Care Assistant (NCA) plays a crucial role in delivering personalized care to residents during scheduled shifts in long-term care settings. Responsibilities include providing resident-centered nursing care and assistance with daily living activities under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN).

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering age-appropriate care tailored to the physical and psychological needs of residents as outlined in their care plans.
  • Actively participating as a member of the nursing team, adhering to infection prevention and control policies, and utilizing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Assisting residents with essential health care needs, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and recording vital signs.
  • Providing psychosocial support and personal care to enhance the well-being of assigned residents.
  • Facilitating safe transfers, repositioning, and ambulation using proper techniques and equipment.
  • Contributing to meal preparation and dining experiences, ensuring a positive atmosphere for residents.
  • Documenting resident interactions and care outcomes, and communicating any changes in condition to the charge nurse.
  • Offering housekeeping and laundry services to maintain clean and functional living spaces.
  • Encouraging resident participation in wellness and recreational programs.

Qualifications include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Prior experience in clinical or nursing assistant roles within long-term care settings is advantageous.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required, or the ability to obtain certification within four months of employment.
  • Completion of facility-provided CNA training and certification.
  • Successful completion of annual competency testing and maintenance of continuing education records.

Depending on specific responsibilities, this position may require a valid driver's license and compliance with driving policies.
