Job Summary:

HKS is seeking a Medical Planner to fill a key role in our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare design and planning, with a focus on creating innovative and effective solutions for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in creating, reviewing, and coordinating architectural floor plans, interior elevations, reflected ceiling plans, and equipment plans of clinical spaces.

Direct or review the work of project team members, ensuring that all designs meet the highest standards of quality and functionality.

Participate in the conceptual design of healthcare projects, working closely with clients to understand their needs and develop solutions that meet their goals.

Translate client operational models into architectural design and medical plans, ensuring that all designs are functional, efficient, and effective.

Apply governing regulatory codes and hospital licensing standards, ensuring that all designs meet the necessary requirements.

Facilitate discussions with end-users to generate solutions in real-time, ensuring that all designs meet the needs of the clients and users.

Coordinate or prepare drawings and designs in accordance with HKS standards, best practices, and quality expectations.

Understand research methodology and integrate research into practice, ensuring that all designs are informed by the latest research and best practices.

Participate in and may lead team meetings to discuss project issues, technical issues, and coordination with other disciplines.

Maintain detailed documentation of client meetings, including meeting minutes and other relevant documents.

Collaborate in and may be responsible for delivering a project on defined budget requirements, ensuring that all projects are completed on time and within budget.

Maintain accountability to project plan and planned utilization rate, ensuring that all projects are completed efficiently and effectively.

Develop and maintain excellent relationships with existing and potential clients, supporting the business development process and identifying new opportunities for growth.

Requirements:

An accredited professional degree in Architecture or a related field is required, with architectural registration strongly preferred.

Typically 5+ years of experience with a healthcare design and planning background is required, with sustainable design accreditation preferred.

Advanced knowledge in architectural software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and 3D modeling software (including Rhino and Grasshopper) is preferred.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite is preferred, as well as knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines.

Advanced knowledge of current healthcare planning and programming concepts, including patient safety and evidence-based design principles, is required.

Strong knowledge of architectural building systems, building codes, and accessibility guidelines is required.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time are essential, as well as the ability to communicate and present ideas in a clear, concise, and professional manner both verbally and in writing.
