About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team at Sugar Hill Animal Hospital. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our veterinarians in delivering top-notch medical services.

Responsibilities
  • Medical Care: Administer medications, assist with treatments, diagnostics, and monitoring, and provide general care to patients as needed.
  • Anesthesia and Surgery: Assist with anesthesia preparation, induction, maintenance, and recovery, as well as clean and maintain anesthesia equipment and surgical instruments.
  • Dentistry: Provide patient dental care, including ultrasonic cleaning and polishing, and assist with dental surgery.
  • Radiology: Position patients and assist with radiographs, and send radiographs via email as needed.
  • Laboratory Duties: Collect, prepare, and run or submit samples for requested tests, and read and record results when indicated.
  • Client Communication: Provide patient updates, discharge instructions, and follow up with clients as needed.
  • Client Education: Teach and educate clients on at-home care procedures and provide medical demonstrations.
  • Technician Appointments: Assist with blood draws, bandage changes, post-op checks, and other technician-related tasks.
  • Clinic Technician: Assist with outpatient appointments, prepare and restock exam rooms, and ensure a smooth and timely flow of appointments.
  • Reception and Front Desk Duties: Assist with answering phones, booking appointments, admitting and discharging patients, and other front desk tasks as needed.
Requirements
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb, as well as manipulate up to 50 pounds and over 50 pounds with a coworker.
  • Work Environment: Ability to work in a noisy environment with sounds from animals and equipment, and be exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch.
  • Education and Experience: 1.5+ years of experience as a veterinary assistant, or equivalent experience in a related field.
