About the Job

">

We are hiring a Senior Parent Advocate Coordinator to supervise and support Parent Advocates working with parents of children in foster care. The coordinator will help parents navigate the foster care system, instill hopefulness, and address family challenges to achieve reunification.

The primary focus is providing supervision to Parent Advocates so they can engage parents in building connections and working collaboratively with case planning teams to reunify with their children.

Job Responsibilities

  • ">
  • Assign cases to Parent Advocates as families begin navigating the foster care process">
  • Provide weekly supervision to Parent Advocates">
  • Assist Parent Advocates in building relationships with parents, supporting them in making decisions for their families, coping with trauma, communicating effectively, and maintaining relationships during foster care placement">
  • Support Parent Advocates in preparing parents for Family Team Conferences">
  • Collaborate with case planners as part of the foster care team">
  • Share insights and observations to inform decision-making regarding cases">
  • Implement the Parents Empowering Parents (PEP) model, including key practices in the first 90 days of a case">
  • Accompany parents to appointments at various service providers as needed">
  • Offer emotional support for parents attending court dates">
  • Orient parents to Family Time, provide ideas for making the most of visits, and supervise visits periodically">
  • Recognize and celebrate parents' progress toward reunification">
  • Inform parents about supportive interventions to strengthen their families">
  • Coach parents to develop problem-solving skills while discovering strengths and priorities">
  • Train Parent Advocates to document work in Progress Notes">
  • Attend program and department meetings as appropriate">
  • Perform related tasks to support parents as needed">

Qualifications and Requirements

  • ">
  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree preferred; lived child welfare experience or 6+ years of relevant work experience considered">
  • Natural collaboration skills to facilitate teamwork with case planning teams">
  • Able to engage and positively impact individuals from diverse backgrounds">
  • Strong interpersonal skills to assist with parent engagement and sensitivity when discussing topics involving trauma, stress, and healing">
  • Excellent writing skills">
  • Facilitation skills for monthly meetings with the Parent Advocate team">
  • Computer skills for Google searches and Microsoft Office">
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects simultaneously">
  • Passion for parent leadership and preventing child welfare involvement">
  • Maintain confidentiality and work flexible hours">
  • Able to travel extensively throughout NYC boroughs">

Salary and Benefits

">

The salary range for this position is $67,000 - $75,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.

">
