Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled FTS/Range Safety Lead to support the MDA Targets and Countermeasures Engineering Directorate. The successful candidate will provide assistance across the targets portfolio with flight termination system and range safety requirements development and verification, GFE and CFE hardware and software development, acceptance, qualification, integration, and checkout.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and allocate requirements for targets flight termination system products, including autonomous flight termination systems, and associated range safety requirements.
  • Oversee GFE and CFE hardware and software development, acceptance, qualification, integration, and checkout.
  • Provide expert advice to product and component failure investigations and review boards.
  • Prepare summary level and detailed level reports to document status, findings, and recommendations.
  • Represent the interests of the customer in Working Groups and Technical Interchange Meetings.
Requirements
  • Master of Science or Master of Arts degree and 12+ years working on missile defense-related or other complex, large DoD program / project OR a BA/BS from an accredited institution of higher learning in a related field with 20+ years of experience in lieu of the MA/MS degree requirement.
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Ability to work independently and/or lead teams to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Supervisory experience and ability to provide daily direction to support teams.
  • Working knowledge of Missile Range Safety Requirements.
  • Familiarity with missile flight safety analysis and analysis products.
  • Proficiency in Range Tracking Systems (inertial measurement, GPS, C-band tracking).
  • Proficiency with RCC-319 Flight Termination Commonality Standard and RCC-324 Global Positioning and Inertial Measurements Range Safety Tracking Systems Commonality Standard.
Desired Skills
  • Familiarity with autonomous flight termination systems.
  • Flight Test Range Safety experience.
  • 15 + years of experience in defense and aerospace.
  • Knowledge of the Missile Defense System and the MDA Targets and Countermeasures Program.
  • Background in batteries, RF systems, ordnance and ordnance devices, antennas.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and have the individual flexibility to work multiple actions simultaneously and resolve time sensitive issues.
  • Strong communication skills to include oral, written and briefing.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Word, and Project.
