About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Director of Media Operations to join our team at Barnard College. As a key member of our Instructional Media and Technology Services (IMATS) team, you will play a critical role in supporting the teaching, learning, and scholarship needs of our faculty, students, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the equipment room, including hiring, scheduling, training, and managing student workers, overseeing equipment repair and replacement, and coordinating with vendors for equipment demos.
  • Take ownership of the Media Production Studio and Post-production lab, working with the Senior Associate Director to manage staffing, patron reservations, and upkeep, and interfacing with external vendors and other departments for facility upgrades or maintenance.
  • Facilitate and provide instruction in media-making through public workshops, course support workshops, and the Emerging Filmmaker Mentorship Program.
  • Engage with undergraduate student programming, including representing Media Services at events and initiatives.
  • Perform independent and team administrative work, including maintaining project management tasks and updates, fielding emails, and using office productivity tools to establish and maintain workflows.
Requirements
  • Master's degree or 4 years of commensurate experience in a media field.
  • Project management experience, preferably in a media field.
  • Experience with team management, including hiring, scheduling, and training student workers.
  • Technical expertise in Adobe Suite and proficiency in audio and video media content creation.
  • Proven track record of successfully working as part of a team with varying backgrounds and experience levels.
  • Experience with teaching media production in a classroom setting.
  • Track record of managing workflows in an equipment room, production studio, and/or post-production computer lab.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with researching and managing purchases for media production or academic administration settings.
  • Experience working in a higher education setting.
  • On-set film production experience.
  • Familiarity with end-to-end video content post-production process.
  • Experience with creating and publishing podcasts.
Physical Requirements
  • Physically able to lift and carry production equipment and materials.
  • Ability to perform customary office tasks such as sitting, walking, standing, and computing for moderate to prolonged periods of time.
Work Schedule
  • 35 hours/week.
  • 9 - 5 Monday through Friday default.
  • Flexibility for default hours on a case-by-case basis.
  • Occasional evenings and weekends with comp time for changes.
Salary Range

$86,000-$90,000 annually.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
