About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Aerospace Engineer to join our team at the Universities Space Research Association. As a key member of our research team, you will play a critical role in advancing our understanding of air traffic management and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and development of advanced air traffic control and management automation concepts
  • Propose new automation concepts and algorithms, and provide solution recommendations
  • Engage with NASA teams and partners on requirements development and systems design for aviation simulation and prototype demonstration systems
  • Lead system development for ACERO and produce system performance metrics, measures of effectiveness, and measures of performance
  • Develop and execute research plans, including milestones, requirements, schedules, design & development activities, and deliverables
Requirements
  • PhD degree in Aeronautics, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in aerospace engineering, data engineering, or simulation and modeling of dynamic systems
  • Expertise in scripting languages like Python and MATLAB, databases like NoSQL and SQL, and proficiency in Java, C/C++
  • Experience with Atlassian tools, Confluence, Git, Jira, and Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated excellence in a related research and development environment and a sustained record of academic publications
Working Conditions

This position will be performed in an office or computer lab environment. The employee will be required to stand, walk, sit, talk, or hear for extended periods. Keyboarding for large time spans each day will be a significant part of this position. The employee may need to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Travel

The employee must be willing and able to travel. Position may require infrequent domestic business travel.
