Position Overview:
The Healthcare Customer Service Associate plays a vital role in welcoming and assisting patients and visitors. This position involves a range of administrative tasks to support physicians and clinic personnel. Responsibilities include:
  • Greeting and guiding patients and visitors.
  • Managing appointment scheduling and patient inquiries.
  • Collecting and verifying insurance and patient information.
  • Providing necessary forms and securing required signatures.
  • Entering patient data into the system accurately.
  • Handling incoming calls and relaying messages as needed.
  • Monitoring physician schedules and making adjustments as necessary.
  • Facilitating payment plans and processing payments.
  • Addressing questions regarding insurance claims and medical services.

In all interactions, a friendly, professional demeanor is essential. This role may also involve additional duties as assigned, and all responsibilities are subject to reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications:
Education:
Training in medical office procedures is advantageous. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary. Familiarity with business office operations, medical terminology, and insurance processes is preferred. Proficiency in computer usage, typing, and basic mathematics is required.

Experience:
A minimum of one year in a clinical environment is preferred, or two years in a role involving public interaction.

Certifications:
CPR certification is a plus.

Skills and Abilities:
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • Strong interpersonal skills for greeting patients and managing phone communications.
  • The ability to comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Organizational skills for sorting and filing documents accurately.
  • A proactive attitude and adaptability to changing workloads.
  • Effective communication skills to foster positive relationships with patients and staff.

Equipment Proficiency:
Ability to operate multi-line telephones, fax machines, copiers, computers, and calculators.
