About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team at SCL Health. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for assisting in the daily operations of food preparation and service, ensuring that our patients and staff receive high-quality meals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation, portioning, garnishing, presentation, and safe storage of food.
  • Utilize Food Management Systems to track food consumption and purchase ingredients for preparation.
  • Ensure that kitchen, equipment, and storage facilities are sanitary, neat, and organized.
  • Lead by providing positive and constructive feedback to employees to reward, coach, correct, and motivate.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as department policies and procedures.
  • Establish a safe work environment for employees by providing safety-related training and equipment maintenance.
  • Ensure department compliance with all food safety standards and Hazardous Analysis of Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines.
  • Establish operating standards, implement quality improvements, and communicate them to employees.
Requirements
  • Current ServSaf certification, required within three (3) months of hire.
  • Demonstrated culinary ability, required.
  • Working knowledge of professional food safety, required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • Associates Degree from an accredited culinary school, preferred.
  • At least four (4) years of high-volume cooking, preferred.
  • At least two (2) years in a culinary leadership role, preferred.
