Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Motor Coach Technician to join our team at LAUNCH Technical Workforce Solutions. As a key member of our fleet maintenance team, you will be responsible for leading and supervising a team of technicians in the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of motor coaches and other vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, assign, and lead the day-to-day work for an assigned location.
  • Perform a variety of repairs, including technical, diagnostic, and maintenance work, ensuring appropriate assignment of duties based on skill and certification levels of technicians.
  • Provide ongoing training to assigned employees in proper maintenance and repair methods, practices, procedures, and techniques.
  • Review completed work orders of assigned staff and inspect work as needed to ensure repairs and maintenance are of the highest quality.
  • Perform and/or lead more advanced Journeyman Technician work, including inspection, diagnosis, and repair.
  • Maintain work, time, and material and equipment maintenance logs and records for self and assigned staff.
  • Ensure the maintenance of a clean, safe, effective, and efficient work environment.
  • Provide input to Regional Manager Fleet Maintenance on individual technician training needs.
  • Review, assess, and analyze work processes and practices and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with other operations staff.
  • Identify and report vehicle abuse and/or major technical problems.
  • Order replacement parts and supplies and ensure proper inventory management.

Requirements:

  • High school graduation or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply legislation, regulations, and standards applicable to the assigned location.
  • Knowledge of current technology used in the repair and diagnosis of vehicles, equipment, and their component systems.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices, including handling of hazardous materials.
  • Knowledge of supervisory and training techniques and methods with demonstrated experience successfully supervising and training technicians.
  • Significant automotive or truck technical repair and preventive maintenance experience.
  • Valid appropriate licenses and/or certification required to operate company vehicles in assigned location.
  • Knowledge of and experience using information technology and related software to access technical information, enter repair and maintenance data, and generate work orders.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Verbal communication skills to communicate effectively, determine the problem, and explain the repair and to provide leadership, advice, and guidance to lesser-qualified technicians.
  • Written communications skills to read and understand work orders, manuals, schematics, and manufacturers' specifications and prepare accurate records and reports.
  • High degree of attention to detail to diagnose technical problems.
  • Computer skills and the ability to understand related technology to perform work on vehicles of all ages.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, analyze, and solve problems, including more complex and recurring technical problems and identify trends or recurring problems in specific vehicles.
  • Coordination, prioritization, and time management skills to coordinate the work of others to meet deadlines, use resources effectively and efficiently, and work effectively under pressure with frequent interruptions.
  • Relationship building that promotes and advocates excellence in customer service to assigned technicians and internal customers.
  • Proven ability to work independently.
  • Ability to handle and satisfactorily resolve conflict situations within assigned team as well as between team and customers.
  • Leadership skills to create and maintain a motivated, positive work environment.
