Job DescriptionThe Sparrow Health System is seeking a highly skilled Plastic Hand Surgeon to join our team. As a Plastic Hand Surgeon, you will be responsible for the treatment and surgical needs of patients requiring consultation and restoration and repair of post-trauma, wounds, burns, and reconstruction due to fracture or trauma.
You will examine and diagnose patients to identify abnormalities needing treatment either medically or surgically. Additionally, you may participate in the partnership between Sparrow Medical Group and Michigan Medicine Section as a Faculty member, devoting 20% of your time to teaching and research.
Essential Duties- Devote time, attention, and energy to providing professional medical services that are representative of the highest quality, compassionate medical care to our patients.
- Report to the Section Chief, Michigan Medical Plastic Surgery, and Vice President, Sparrow Medical Group, or designee.
- Be available not less than the required number of hours per week for patient contact time, call coverage, and other responsibilities as assigned by Vice President, SMG, or designee.
- Utilize and conform to the billing, collection, and accounting systems and practices maintained by the Hospital and Sparrow Health System.
- Supervise the medical care of patients assigned for supervision.
- Refer patients requiring medically necessary care to an affiliate of Sparrow Health System, if such services are available.
- Supervise, evaluate, and make recommendations regarding office personnel and actively participate in SMG and practice-level management and operations.
- Assist with the recruitment and development of additional or replacement physicians.
- Perform additional services as requested by the Section Chair of Michigan Medical or Vice President, SMG, as well as those designated by the SMG Board.
- Engage in educational programs, including teaching residents, interns, and medical students, as requested or directed by the Vice President, SMG, as well as those designated by the SMG Board.
- Complete all medical record entries within a reasonable time after patient contact and comply with additional requirements related to documentation and coding.
- Participate in the ongoing development of your practice specialty within the Hospital, including assisting in connection with the development of policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Assist as requested by the SMG Board or Hospital in developing, reviewing, and implementing revisions to Hospital's and SMG's quality assurance, quality improvement, and related programs.
- Board Eligible/Certified in Plastic Surgery
- Fellowship trained in Hand Surgery
- Medical Licenses in the State of Michigan
- CAQ Certification
- 3-5 years of experience
- MD or DO degree
- Graduate of an approved Plastic Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, or General Surgery residency program
