Position Title: HVAC Utility Plant Operator

Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled HVAC Utility Plant Operator with an OE2 or S2 license. This role involves independently managing a variety of responsibilities within the power plant, primarily during the 3rd shift. The position is structured on an alternating 3 day/4 day workweek schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts advanced operational tasks to guarantee the safe functioning of diverse power plant machinery, ensuring the efficient generation of high-pressure steam, electrical power, and chilled water.
  • Regularly inspects the plant to monitor equipment performance and identify any irregularities in systems, including engines, boilers, chillers, and pumping systems.
  • Utilizes both visual and auditory methods to oversee vendor and manufacturer calibrated settings, adhering to regulatory standards.
  • Documents performance metrics and discrepancies in a log report.
  • Performs preventive maintenance tasks, including the replacement of belts, valves, and minor plumbing repairs.
  • Conducts water quality tests to mitigate hardness and maintain system integrity.
  • Executes cleaning and maintenance of pumps, implements lockout/tagout procedures, and replaces filters as needed.
  • Compares logged issues with control system parameters, making necessary adjustments to optimize equipment performance.
  • Maintains electrical output within specified kilowatt levels to reduce reliance on commercial power.
  • Monitors the control system for process management and performance, ensuring compliance with established ranges.
  • Identifies and addresses equipment malfunctions, coordinating with supervisors or external vendors for repairs.
  • Oversees the energy management system for environmental controls, documenting critical data and facilitating necessary repairs.
  • Handles general maintenance inquiries and directs them to the appropriate personnel, completing work orders as required.

Qualifications: A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a utility plant or industrial environment, with a focus on the operation, maintenance, and repair of high-pressure steam boilers and chillers. A valid driver's license and an S2 or OE2 license are required.
