Position: HVAC Utility Plant Operator

Overview: We are currently seeking an HVAC Utility Plant Operator with an OE2 or S2 license. The operator will be responsible for executing a variety of tasks within the power plant environment. This position operates on a 3rd shift schedule, working from 6 PM to 6 AM, on alternating 3-day and 4-day workweeks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safe operation of various power plant equipment, facilitating the efficient production of high-pressure steam, electrical power, and chilled water.
  • Conduct regular inspections of plant operations to identify any irregularities in systems such as engines, boilers, chillers, and cooling towers.
  • Utilize visual and auditory monitoring techniques to verify vendor and manufacturer settings in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Document performance metrics and report any deficiencies.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks, including the replacement of fan belts, valves, and gauges, as well as minor plumbing work.
  • Conduct water quality tests to manage hardness levels effectively.
  • Maintain cleanliness of pumps and execute lockout/tagout procedures as required.
  • Adjust control system settings to optimize equipment performance based on logged deficiencies.
  • Monitor energy production to ensure compliance with defined kilowatt measurements, aiming to reduce commercial power consumption.
  • Oversee the energy management system to maintain environmental controls and record critical data for necessary repairs.
  • Handle general maintenance inquiries and direct them to the appropriate personnel, completing work orders as needed.

Qualifications: Candidates should possess a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a utility plant or industrial environment, with expertise in the operation, maintenance, and repair of high-pressure steam boilers, chillers, or similar mechanical systems. A valid driver's license and an S2 or OE2 license are required.
