Position Overview:
The Town of Front Royal is looking for a dedicated Utility Line Technician to join our Water and Sewer Maintenance team. This role involves performing skilled tasks related to the installation, repair, and upkeep of water and sewer infrastructure. The position may require extended hours for emergency situations, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Work Schedule:
- Monday through Friday
- 7:00 am to 3:00 pm
- Rotating On-Call Shifts

Job Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair utility lines and associated components.
- Conduct water and sewer taps and service connections.
- Install and test water meters and fire hydrants.
- Perform routine tests and add necessary chemicals to sewer lines.
- Execute minor landscaping following project completion.
- Operate various vehicles and machinery related to job tasks.
- Participate in snow and ice removal as needed.
- Adhere to safety protocols, including wearing steel-toed safety boots.

Requirements:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
- Minimum of one year of general work experience; experience in water and sewer line work is preferred.
- Valid Driver's License required.
- CDL Class B with tanker and air brake endorsement is necessary at the time of hire or within six months.
- Flagging certification is required within six months.

Qualifications:
- Familiarity with tools, materials, and equipment used in utility line work.
- General knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Capability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with others.
- Willingness to work in various environmental conditions.

Work Environment:
- Outdoor work is required, subject to extreme weather conditions and potential hazards.
- Exposure to bloodborne pathogens may occur, necessitating the use of protective equipment.

Physical Demands:
- This position involves heavy lifting, requiring the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally.
- Tasks may include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and repetitive motions.
